OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X: Who wins the Speed Test?

The Chinese phone maker OnePlus unveiled it’s latest flagship device the OnePlus 5T a few days ago and it’s now available for sale on Amazon India. The 5T sports a brand new design with a larger 18:9, edge to edge display. We decided to compare the best of Android with the latest Apple device, iPhone X. Here is a OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X the comparison of the best.

This is not the first time when a OnePlus device is being compared to the iPhone, both the devices have a bezel-less display, supports fast charging, and what not. Both the devices are beautiful to look at, obviously, the iPhone X takes a lead here.

OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X: Display

The OnePlus 5T has a 6-inch 1080X2160 resolution optic AMOLED display with a pixel density of 401ppi while the iPhone X sports a 5.8-inch Super Retina display with a resolution of 2436X1125 and a pixel density of 458ppi. It is an edge-to-edge OLED display.

From the above specifications, it is clear that the 5T’s display is no match for the iPhone X’s display but I think the price difference would compensate it. Both the smartphones use the OLED technology and offer the similar level of brightness and clarity. It might be noted that Apple’s TrueTone display is quite similar to the OnePlus’s “Sunlight Display” which adapts to the lighting conditions to provide a great viewing experience.

Interesting, isn’t it?

OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X: Design

Like I said earlier, both the devices look beautiful. The OnePlus 5T boasts a unibody aluminum shell and an edge-to-edge screen around the front which forced the fingerprint scanner at the back.

The iPhone X, on the other hand, has completely removed the fingerprint scanner from the device following the bezel-less display. Apple has completely replaced the Touch ID with newfound Face ID which Apple claims is the most accurate and secure face authentication technology available in the market.

Here comes the surprise!!

The OnePlus 5T comes with a similar tech called “Face Unlock” and it is actually faster than Apple’s Face ID. The technology uses more than 100 identifiers to unlock the device and it uses the phone’s standard front-facing camera. However, OnePlus’s formula is not as accurate as Face ID but OnePlus has managed to beat Apple in speed. It is almost instant.

OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X: Camera

Both OnePlus 5T & iPhone X offer dual camera setups, and on paper, the OnePlus 5T comes out on top with its dual 20MP & 16MP cameras compared to Apple’s two 12MP sensors.

The 5T’s secondary sensors come equipped with a larger f/1.7 aperture for improved low-light photography, while the iPhone’s camera has a f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture. OnePlus also claims an improved portrait mode to improve selfies with a 16MP sensor as compared to a 7MP sensor in iPhone X.

OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X: Battery

The OnePlus 5T comes with a 3,300mAh battery which easily lasts a day. The Dash charge is one of the fastest charging technology in the market and a 30-minute charge could provide enough juice for the day.

The iPhone X also supports fast charging and it is the first iPhone to support wireless charging. Apple has not revealed the battery size but claims 21 hours of talk time.

While this may surprise you, this is what motivated me to compare these two devices. Take a look at the video by EverythingApplePro.

Let’s talk about the hardware, software, and pricing now. The Apple iPhone X comes with Apple’s new A11 Bionic CPU which comes paired with an Apple-built GPU. The six-core A11 is considered the best and fastest processor in the world till date. The iPhone comes coupled with a 3GB RAM and a storage option of 64GB to 256GB.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 5T is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 CPU which comes coupled with a 6GB or 8GB RAM with a storage option of 64GB or 128GB.

The Apple iPhone X is priced at Rs 89,000 in India for the 64GB variant while the 256GB variant is priced at Rs 1,02,000.

The OnePlus 5T is priced at Rs 32,999 for the 64GB variant while the 8GB/64GB variant is priced at Rs 37,999.

Much cheaper than an iPhone X but still it does not compromise on quality.

After watching the speed test video I would really like to applaud the OnePlus team for the OnePlus 5T. It is a great phone at a great price and a true flagship killer.

What do you think of OnePlus 5T?
