HMD Global has been launching a lot of phones recently. Earlier, this month they launched the Nokia 7.1 a premium looking mid-range device. Now they have come up with another device which they call the Nokia 8.1. The new Nokia 8.1 was launched on Wednesday at an event in Dubai. The device has been launched as the new affordable flagship smartphone in the company’s portfolio.
With OnePlus devices dominating the market, HMD Global is also looking to target the market with the new Nokia 8.1. The device is set to be launched on 10th Dec, Monday in India and is likely to be priced aggressively to take on the likes of OnePlus 6T and the Samsung A9 which have been dominating in the sub Rs 40,000 price segment.

Design & Specifications
The Nokia 8.1 has a 6.18-inch Full HD+ Display with a notch at the top and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The display has a resolution of 2246 x 1080 px and a pixel density of 403 PPI. The device has an all-glass front and back with a metal chassis and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It measures 154.8 x 75.76 x 7.97 mm and weighs 180 grams.
The smartphone is equipped with dual rear cameras (12MP + 13MP). The camera module packs in a LED flash with ZEISS branding. The fingerprint sits right below the camera module. It is then followed by the Nokia branding at the center and Android One branding at the bottom.
There is a bottom firing speakers with a USB type-C port for data syncing and charging. The Nokia 8.1 is powered by a 3500mAh battery and supports fast charging. The device runs on the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system. It features an Octa-Core Snapdragon 710 processor along with Adreno 616 GPU.
As far as the optics are concerned, the device comes with a 12MP + 13MP rear cameras and a 20MP front facing selfie shooter. The device comes with a ZEISS optics branding and supports Optical image stabilization. Another added advantage with Nokia phones is OZO Surround sound capture which is a game changer.
In terms of storage, the device comes with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 400GB via a microSD card.
