The smartphone will be launched in an event that will be streamed on the web. Earlier rumors had hinted that the OnePlus 5 would be launched on June 15, although a leak from China also hinted at the June 20 as the big day. OnePlus will host multiple events in several cities across the world on June 20 and June 21 to showcase the flagship device to its fans.
One of the events will be held in New York City starting at 7 p.m on June 20, which will be attended by OnePlus CEO Carl Pei and MKBHD as a special guest. Other events will be held June 21 in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, and Helsinki.
The picture reads “Focus on What Matters”, which possibly hints at the improved dual-lens camera. The camera on OnePlus 5 is a big focus area for the company. The company says that it has tied up with DxO, a third-party agency that tests camera performance, to ensure that the OnePlus 5 camera is tuned right.
Unlike Motorola, OnePlus has done their best to keep the information from leaking. Although there were some listings online which claimed to provide the full specifications of the device. There was another render by Android Police which shows the first half of the device with dual camera setup at the back. The render looks strikingly similar to the iPhone 7 with the horizontal dual camera module. The render also suggests rounded corners 2.5D curved glass at the front and OnePlus’s trademark mute switch on the side.
As far as the specifications are concerned Qualcomm had earlier confirmed that the phone will be the first device in India to come with Snapdragon 835 processor. In addition, Lou had confirmed that the phone comes with a FullHD (1080P) display and that it will be the thinnest OnePlus phone so far.
There are also rumors that the phone will have a much higher price point compared to its predecessors. Are you looking forward to getting the final and official word on this new high-end phone? Let us know in the comments!
