OnePlus 5T Vs OnePlus 5: What’s new & What’s not

OnePlus is back with it’s latest flagship device once again the OnePlus 5T. Just a few months ago, OnePlus launched OnePlus 5 which was loved by the people all over the world and offered great value for money. So, we decided to do a OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5 and find out What’s new and What’s not in this article.

The major difference which can be observed from the first look is the design. OnePlus 5T gets a major design overhaul with larger 18:9 display and a fingerprint sensor at the back. But, that’s not all, there is more to it. Let’s find out what if it is a worthy upgrade?

Here is a quick OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5.

OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5: Design

OnePlus 5T’s design isn’t very different from that of OnePlus 5, it has the same metallic body with curved back for better grip and dual rear camera setup with a hump. You will notice that the fingerprint sensor has now shifted to the back following a taller and larger 18:9 Display at the front. At the bottom, there is a headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and a mono speaker. On the right edge, there is a dual-SIM tray with volume rockers.

Coming to the front, there is a stunning display with small chins at the top and bottom. The navigation buttons are on the screen which further saves space at the bottom. It is a Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160X1080 as compared to a 1920X1080 display on OnePlus 5. This simply means that you will be able to view more content on the screen, be it videos or photos.

The fingerprints sensor on the OnePlus phones is quite responsive and fast and unlocks the device almost instantly. Now OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5 what is the difference? There is a new Face Unlock feature in the OnePlus 5T. The device uses the front camera and a few software tricks to identify your face which allows unlocking the phone using Face ID. Surprisingly, it is very fast and responsive. Like we said earlier OnePlus has once again managed to bring iPhone like technology to an affordable Android device.

OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5: Camera

OnePlus has made some important changes to the camera department in OnePlus 5T. It still features a 16MP primary sensor with a 20MP secondary sensor. However, OnePlus claims that they have used a larger f/1.7 aperture lens to improve the low-light photography where OnePlus 5 struggled. OnePlus introduced a new technology called “intelligent pixel technology” which uses 4 pixels and combine them to make one pixel resulting in a better low-light image.

OnePlus 5T have an improved portrait mode which now works on a software implementation like the Google Pixel devices. Yes, the telephoto lens has been replaced by the 20MP f/1.7 sensor but the 2x zoom is implemented optically.
