OnePlus has finally raised the curtain on its first foldable smartphone, the ‘OnePlus Open’. The OPPO Find N3 is the same phone and was launched in China earlier today. It’s probably a part of the marketing strategy as OnePlus is more appealing to the global markets. The OnePlus Open introduces a groundbreaking foldable phone, adopting a compact book-style folding concept. The light and slim form factor makes it one of the best foldable devices to hold in the hand. It feels like a normal phone from the outside with a 20:9 aspect ratio. OnePlus has managed to keep the crease so small that it is barely noticeable, offering a tablet-like experience to the users. OnePlus Open sports features like five cameras at the rear and the signature Alert Slider.

OnePlus Open: Design
In terms of design, the Open follows the footsteps of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, featuring a book-style folding mechanism but in a more compact form factor. The smartphone weighs just 239 grams and is one of the slimmest and lightest foldable devices on the market. The device is just 5.8mm thick when opened, while 11.7mm upon folding. OnePlus has employed an enhanced ‘Flexion’ hinge, boasting a single-spine architecture that reduces the overall component count to 69 elements, resulting in a smaller and smoother hinge.
Additionally, the Open leverages the use of titanium alloy and carbon fibre material for enhanced durability. It guarantees that the crease on the Open is “almost imperceptible,” thanks to the innovative Flexion Hinge, which permits the phone to fold perfectly flat, significantly reducing the presence of any creases. According to OnePlus, this approach ensures users will enjoy an “uninterrupted Pro tablet-like experience” with the OnePlus Open. OnePlus has gone one step further to test the hinges for 10 lakh folds by Tuv Rheinland for reliable folding.
Regarding colour choices, the OnePlus Open comes in two exquisite options: Emerald Dusk and Voyager Black. Notably, the Voyager Black variant showcases a leather-like finish on its rear surface.

The huge camera bump at the back makes the smartphone wobble whenever you use it while placing it on a surface. It might be a big disappointment for some in the prolonged usage.
