Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus 2018 edition has been launched in India at Rs 32,990. The device will go on sale starting January 20 via Amazon India. The Galaxy A8 Plus comes with an 18.5:9 Infinity display, IP68 water resistance and Dual Front Camera with Live Focus.
Traditionally, Samsung Galaxy A series has been focussed on the mid-range segment which included features from its flagship devices. The highlight of the device is the 18.5:9 Infinity Display which was first seen in the Galaxy S8 & S8+. Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus will compete with a OnePlus 5T, Mi Mix 2 and Honor View 10 which lie in the same price range.
Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus Specifications:
The Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus sports an 18.5:9, 6-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with a pixel density of 410 ppi. The device is powered by an Exynos 7885 Octa-Core processor coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB via micro SD card but unfortunately, it is a hybrid slot, which means it can either house a second SIM or a memory card.
Talking of the camera, the Galaxy A8 Plus is equipped with a dual camera setup at the front which consists of a 16MP and an 8MP camera sensor with a f/1.9 aperture on both sensors. The rear camera is a 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture. The front camera has a Portrait Mode, Live Focus for Bokeh effect and AR style stickers. The Fingerprint sensor sits at the back right below the camera module. The device comes with other smart features such as an Always-On-Display, Bixby and Samsung Pay.
The device looks gorgeous with a Glass back and a metal frame inheriting the premium looks from the Galaxy S and Note series. The device is 8.3mm thick and we recommend a back cover while Samsung might also include one in the retail box. Let’s take a look at the spec sheet:
- 18.5:9, 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with an aspect ratio of 410 ppi.
- 16MP+8MP front facing camera with f/1.9 and 16MP PDAF rear camera.
- Exynos 7885 Octa-Core (2.2GHz Dual + 1.6GHz Hexa) coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be expanded upto 256GB via a micro SD card.
- Dual SIM(nano+nano) support or one Nano + micro SD card slot.
- Android Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box (which is a big let down).
- IP68 water and dust resistant.
- 3,500mAh battery with fast charging via USB-C port.
- Fingerprint sensor, Face recognition, Knox Protection, Secure Folder, Bixby, Always-On-Display and a lot more.
Samsung claims that device is capable of taking amazing pictures in low lighting conditions. The device promises a powerful performance with 6GB RAM and Octa-Core processor. The device is IP68 rated water and dust resistant which makes it stand out from the competition. Samsung’s own virtual assistant Bixby is here to enhance the user experience.
The Galaxy A8 Plus also supports Face Unlock which is not as fast as OnePlus 5T but works fine. The device is powered by a 3500mAh battery and supports Fast charging via USB-C port.
As of now the device will be available in Gold and Black color variants. The device will go on sale starting 20th January via Amazon and you can check it out here. If you’re interested in this device (which is not a bad choice at all) you can click the “Notify Me” button on the Amazon page.
