Moto Z2 Force officially announced along with a 360-degree camera Mod at its #hellomotoworld event in New York. Motorola and its parent company Lenovo has made the modular smartphones concept a reality by introducing the Moto Mods. Motorola introduced Z series last year with Moto Mods and took the world by surprise, the implementation was amazing.
It’s 2017 and Motorola is back with their new line up. Last year, Motorola launched the Moto Z Force, Moto Z, and Moto Z Play, but this year the company is doing things a bit differently. Instead of releasing two top-tier Moto Z devices, we now have just one. It’s just the Moto Z2 Force and the Moto Z2 Play, which I think is much simpler to understand.
In terms of design, the Moto Z2 Force similar to other devices in the Moto Z lineup. However, the device gets thinner, lighter with few other refinements.
The device now features a new bigger fingerprint sensor on the front below the display, similar to the one you would find on the Z2 Play or Moto G5. You will also get the fingerprint sensor gestures which enables you to go back, home, or open the recent apps menu. You can also swipe on the fingerprint sensor for navigation from that one button.
The Moto Z2 Force features a 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with Motorola’s ShatterShield display technology. Motorola says this screen is “guaranteed not to shatter”.
At the back, the device features an all new dual camera setup with a dual LED flash in the rounded camera housing. There is a Motorola logo in the center and the connector pins for connecting Moto Mods.
The device packs in pretty impressive specs under the hood. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB RAM in the US variant while the rest of the world will get a 6GB variant. In terms of storage, there will be a 64GB and a 128GB variant which can be expanded up to 128GB via a MicroSD card.
The Moto Z2 Force is almost a millimeter thinner than its predecessor which resulted in a smaller battery as well. The device now packs in a 27,30 mAh battery as compared to the 3,500 mAh last year.
In the camera department, the device trades in a single 21 MP rear camera for a pair of 12 MP sensors, both of which feature 1.25µm pixels, a f/2.0 aperture, as well as phase-detection and laser-assisted autofocus. The second rear sensor is a monochrome lens which will let you take native black-and-white photos.
When it comes to software, the Moto Z2 Force will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with the usual Moto features like Moto Display, Moto Voice, and Moto Actions.

The device will hit the market next month. However, there are no tentative dates available as of now.
NOTE: There is no 3.5mm Headphone jack, instead there is a USB Type C to 3.5mm connector included in the box. The device is not fully waterproof but is splash resistant and has a nano coating on it. The battery is 2,730 mAh which is doubted to last a full day.
