HMD Global the company behind Nokia phones is reportedly working on a new high-end flagship device. Nokia 8 Sirocco is currently the flagship device of HMD Global. If the rumors are to be believed then HMD Global’s next flagship device will be called Nokia A1 Plus which will be unveiled at IFA 2018. The device could very well be the Nokia 9 which was spotted online some time back. While we are not sure about the name, the upcoming device is said to be equipped with a Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chipset and an In-Display fingerprint sensor.
According to a report by WinFuture, HMD Global and Foxconn are working on a new flagship smartphone. The device is internally referred to as A1 Plus or A1P or AOP. Considering the code names, the Nokia A1 Plus could be closely related to Nokia 8 Sirocco, which is internally referred to as A1N and is currently the flagship device by the company.

Recently, Chinese manufacturers like Vivo, Oppo, and Xiaomi has successfully implemented an In-Display fingerprint sensor. If the reports are true, Nokia has beaten other industry leaders in implementing the In-Display fingerprint sensor. HMD has used an OLED panel by LG to get rid of the latency issues in the In-Display fingerprint scanner.
Nokia A1 Plus will feature an improved camera unit that is for sure. No details are available on the photography capabilities of the smartphone, but the Finnish manufacturer has collaborated with ZEISS optics for the lens on the camera sensors. As per the report, the camera module on the device is being called a “high-risk camera.” All the leaks till now have hinted towards the launch of Nokia 9 which is rumored to feature a triple-camera setup includes 41MP, 20MP & 9.7MP sensors.The Nokia smartphones so far have shipped with near stock Android OS, we expect the same with the upcoming flagship. The Nokia A1 Plus might come with Android P 9.0 out of the box and It might as well be an Android One device.
HMD Global is expected to launch the device around August-September which is the time when IFA is held in Berlin. Thus, the company will look to cash in this opportunity to launch it’s latest flagship device and with IFA 2018 on the brink we are expecting an announcement from the company soon.
