OPPO has launched the new OPPO Reno 7 and OPPO Reno 7 Pro phones in India. The Reno 7 series was launched last year in China and they come as a successor to the Reno 6 series. OPPO Reno 7 series come equipped with LDI technology which so far has been used to design PCBs in the aviation industry. The company chose the MediaTek Dimensity chipsets this time.

Thus, the OPPO Reno 7 ships with Dimensity 900 while the Reno Pro ships with Dimensity 1200 Max chipset. Let us talk about the devices in detail.

Talking of the OPPO Reno 7 first, the device sports a smaller 6.4-inch AMOLED display with 1,080×2,400p resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, a 90Hz refresh rate, and 180Hz touch sampling rate. The company has also introduced an Eye Care certification to save your eyes from straining. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. There is a 4,500mAh battery that supports a 65W flash charge and an in-display fingerprint sensor for security.

The phone runs on Color OS 12 based on Android 11 out of the box. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage that is further expandable via a microSD card. The RAM expansion feature can provide up to 13GB with 5GB of extra RAM if free storage is available.

As far as the optics are concerned, the OPPO Reno series has always been known for its camera performances. The OPPO Reno 7 has a triple camera setup on the back. It comes with a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle shooter, and a 2MP macro lens. At the front, there is a 32MP Sony IMX709 (world’s first) selfie shooter. The company calls it a Portrait Expert as the device supports updated bokeh flare portrait mode with cinematic bokeh flare effect and AI highlight video. Other features include Spotlighting in color, Dual-View video, Portrait retouching, and Focus tracking.

In terms of design, the device is just 7.81mm thick and weighs 173g. The curved 3D back design fits well in the palm. OPPO says a total of 1.2 million micro-etchings on the photoresist-coated AG glass back cover using industry-first LDI technology.

The OPPO Reno 7 Pro sports a bigger 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. It comes with a 1,080×2,400p resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, 92.8 percent screen to body ratio, and HDR10+. The device comes with 5G, 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. There is a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging and a 32MP Sony IMX709 selfie snapper on the front for selfies.

Talking of the optics, the OPPO Reno 7 Pro houses a quad rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro sensor, and a fourth color temperature sensor. At the front, the OPPO Reno 7 Pro 5G is the first smartphone to sport a 32MP Sony IMX 709 sensor.

In terms of design, the smartphone is very similar to the OPPO Reno 7. It is 7.45mm thick and weighs 180 grams. The phone is equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor for security and the display is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5. The smartphone comes with an Aircraft-grade shooting star design which the company calls OPPO Glow.

The Reno 7 Pro comes equipped with an X-Axis Linear motor that ensures immersive Haptics. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 Max SoC with ARM G77 MC9 GPU paired with 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB storage. The smartphone comes with a virtual RAM feature that extends the RAM to up to 17GB (if you have free space). OPPO Reno 7 Pro boots on ColorOS12 based on Android 11 out of the box.

Price and Availability

OPPO Reno 7 will be available on Flipkart starting 17th February. However, you can Pre-Order the device right now. As per the listing, it will only be available in the 8GB + 256GB storage variant which is priced at ₹28,990.

While the OPPO Reno 7 Pro is priced at ₹39,990 for the 12GB + 256GB storage variant and is currently available on Flipkart. Both the devices are available in Starlight Black and Startrails Blue color options.

The company is offering up to 10 percent cash back through Axis Bank, Standard Chartered, Bank of Baroda, and Yes Bank credit cards. You can also avail an Extra ₹3000 off if you trade in your old device. Other offers include No-Cost EMI, OPPO upgrade, and complete damage protection.
