Samsung is all set to launch its new line of flagship devices, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ in India today at an event in New Delhi at 11:30 AM. Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will bear a bigger price tag than any of its predecessors. Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ on February 25 in Barcelona, ahead of Mobile World Congress 2018. The new Flagship devices have been available for pre-order on the Samsung website right after they were officially announced at the Samsung Unpacked event last month. In India, customers can head directly to the Samsung India stores to pre-book the phones for a token money of Rs 2000.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is priced at Rs 57,900 for the 64GB variant and the 256GB variant is priced at Rs 64,900. Similarly, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is priced at Rs 65,900 for the 64GB variant and the 256GB variant is priced at Rs 72,900. Interestingly, there is no 128GB variant which was promised for the US markets.
The phone will be sold online via Flipkart and Samsung’s official website as well as offline Samsung stores and other associate retailers. The device will be available in Lilac Purple, Midnight Black, Titanium Gray and Coral blue color variants.
The main highlight of the Samsung Galaxy S9 is its new improved camera. The Galaxy S9 features a single-camera setup at the back with dual aperture – F/1.5 for low-light and F/2.4 for normal light. The Galaxy S9+ sports a dual camera setup at the back with dual aperture. The dual cameras are used in ‘Live Focus’ which is similar to a portrait mode.

The Samsung Galaxy S9+ beats the Google Pixel XL 2 and the iPhone X to become the best-rated camera on a mobile device. The Galaxy S9+ has an overall DxOMark rating of 99 which is the best score by any smartphone so far. The still image score for S9+ is 104 and video score is 91.
Both the devices will be powered by Exynos 9810 chipsets in India which scored better on benchmarks than the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The Galaxy S9 sports a smaller 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED Panel and comes with a 4GB RAM. While the Galaxy S9+ sports a larger 6.2-inch QHD Super AMOLED Panel powered by 6GB RAM.

The new S series devices come with a host of new features like ‘Intelligent Scan’, which combines facial recognition with Iris Scan. A dedicated fingerprint feature to allow a different fingerprint to open a Secure Folder. Other features include the use of AI and AR technology to enhance the Bixby experience on the phone and AR Emoji’s which allows users to create a 3D emoji which imitates user expressions like winks, nods and more.
