The Indian E-Commerce giant Flipkart has entered the smartphone market with Billion Capture Plus. Flipkart’s smartphone brand Billion launched its first smartphone Capture Plus and it went on sale on November 15. The Billion Capture Plus has a dual rear camera setup and comes with Smartron’s tronX AI based platform as well as unlimited free cloud storage. The phone is available in two variants – 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage variant is priced at Rs 10,999 and 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant is priced at Rs 12,999. The internal storage could be expanded via a micro SD card up to 128GB.
Design
Talking about the design, the Billion Capture Plus sports a metallic body with aesthetically designed rounded corners for better grip. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full-HD 1080X1920 pixels display with 2.5D Dragontail glass on top and a pixel density of 401 PPI. At the back, there is a dual camera setup at the top left of the device along with the Dual LED Flash. There is a fingerprint sensor to lock and unlock the device followed by the brand logo at the bottom. At the bottom edge, there is a USB type-C port for charging and data syncing along with the speaker grills. At the top, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack and the right edge houses the volume rockers and the power button. The left edge has a SIM tray which is a hybrid slot and you can put either 2 nano SIMs or one SIM and one micro SD card.
Display
There is a 5.5-inch Full-HD 1080X1920 pixels display with 2.5D Dragontail glass on top and a pixel density of 401 ppi. It is an IPS LCD display with great viewing angles and good brightness and sunlight legibility.
Hardware
The device runs on a 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 2GHz Octa-core processor coupled with 3/4GB RAM. The internal storage can be expanded up to 128GB via micro SD card. The 5.5-inch IPS LCD display is protected by a Dragontail Glass which is further protected by a screen protector.
The Billion Capture Plus drives its power from a 3,500mAh battery which Flipkart claims to give you 2 days of battery life. It is also claimed that a 15minute charge can give you up to 7 hours of battery life. The device comes with a fast charger along with a USB Type-C cable.
Software
The device comes with Android Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box with a promise of an upgrade to Android Oreo. The device is equipped with Smartron’s tronX AI-based Internet Of Things Platform as well as unlimited cloud storage. The UI is very similar to the stock Android along with few apps like Ola, PhonePe and SonyLiv come pre-installed on the device. The device is made in India and supports 4G VoLTE connectivity.

Camera
The Highlight of the device is the dual camera setup at the back. There are two 13MP sensors at the back with a dual LED Flash. The Capture Plus implements one RGB and one Monochrome lens at the back and offers features like Bokeh effect with Depth of field mode and it comes with a Portrait mode which Highlights the subject while blurring the background.
Apart from this, there is a Super Night mode which offers you great low-light pictures. For selfies, the device has an 8MP front camera.

Final Verdict
For the price of Rs 10,999, the camera performance is surprisingly good. The software performance is good and fluid and with the promise of an upgrade to Android Oreo makes the device future proof. The camera has a Pro-mode which is great at this price and the camera is capable of recording 4K video which is great.
The overall built quality is good with metal back and plastic at the top. The device will give a tough competition to other smartphones at this price.
Additionally, Flipkart touts that the phone is Made in India and Made for India. It is designed and assembled in India itself. The Billion Capture Plus smartphone will be supported by the pan India after-sales service network of F1 Info Solutions, which is now owned by Flipkart.
